Our school strives to nurture the whole child – physically, socially, emotionally, spiritually, and cognitively. By combining the educational framework of Montessori, Reggio, Forest School, and Waldorf, we will meet and often exceed teaching the NC K Standards in a unique way. We emphasize independence and respect for a child’s natural psychological development and recommended developmentally appropriate methods to teach, such as movement-hands-on learning, child and teacher-led learning, and learning outdoors which is supported by therapists, early childhood education and elementary education leaders, pastors, pediatricians, and psychiatrists from all over the world.
We believe that every child will advance on their own timetable and with our approach we see the children enjoy learning itself. Our philosophy is to not force learning or teach to the test, but meet and teach the child where they are at, knowing they will master standards when they are ready to create a lifelong love of learning. We live in a time of "hurry" but there is no way to rushing learning and there is research on the toll this approach is taking on the mental health of our youth. We want to bring back realistic and relaxed expectations of Kindergarten trusting the process that they will understand objectives when they are ready gently guided and encouraging learning.
